Description
The Financial Analyst is a finance professional with non-profit passion and experience. The Financial Analyst supports the budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis functions that are critical to realizing the mission and vision of Mary’s Place. As a key member of the Finance Team, the Financial Analyst must possess a commitment to Mary’s Place’s mission, values, and culture.Â
In collaboration with the Controller and Chief Financial Officer, the Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting the annual budgeting process, financial forecasting, and the analysis and reporting of financial and grant data. The Financial Analyst develops financial models, monitors budget-to-actual performance, and translates financial data into clear, actionable insights for program and organizational leadership. The Financial Analyst helps ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and with grant and regulatory requirements. The Financial Analyst will report to the Controller.Â

This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position. The salary range for this role is $90,000 to $100,000 DOE/yearly. The position is hybrid with daytime/weekday hours, with an in-office location at our administrative offices ("the Hub") in South Lake Union.Â
Key Duties and Responsibilities:Â
- Support the annual budgeting and planning process, including preparing budget templates, consolidating departmental and program budgets, and assisting leadership in developing organizational budgetsÂ
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial analyses, including budget-to-actual comparisons, variance analysis, and cash flow projections;Â identify, explain, and help correct variances as appropriateÂ
- Develop and maintain financial models and forecasts to support organizational planning, program sustainability, and long-range financial strategyÂ
- Analyze grant and program budgets; monitor spending against grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period and flag potential over- or under-spendingÂ
- Analyze reimbursement-based grants to ensure that awarded funds are fully spent down and drawn down within the grant/fund period; track spend rates, prepare and support timely reimbursement requests, and proactively identify at-risk or unspent balances so that no eligible funding is left unclaimed or forfeitedÂ
- Prepare financial reporting materials and schedules for government, corporate, and foundation grants in coordination with the Development and Program teamsÂ
- Build and maintain reports, dashboards, and data visualizations that translate financial data into clear insights for finance, program, and senior leadershipÂ
- Support the preparation of financial statements and board- and finance committee-specific reportingÂ
- Assist with audit readiness by preparing and updating supporting schedules and analysesÂ
- Maintain the accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality of financial data and supporting documentationÂ
- Partner with Program and Development staff to support accurate budgeting, reporting, and accounting for grants and programsÂ

Requirements
Qualifications:Â
- The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field and at least 2-4 years of professional experience in financial analysis, budgeting, or accountingÂ
- Prior experience in non-profit finance, including fund and grant budgeting, monitoring, and complianceÂ
- Prior experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting procedures in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)Â
- Understanding of grant budgets and restricted funding, including the analysis and reporting of government, corporate, and foundation grantsÂ
- Technology savvy with advanced knowledge of accounting, budgeting, and reporting software and the ability to work with financial data across multiple systemsÂ
Skills:Â
- Expert level Excel skills working with complex workbooks using formulas, macros, and pivot tables to build financial models and analysesÂ
- Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities, with the ability to translate financial data into clear, actionable insightsÂ
- Compelling communication and influencing skills, a strong work ethic, impeccable integrity, positive attitude, and strong commitment to working collaborativelyÂ
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 environment including Teams, SharePoint and OutlookÂ
