As a Lead Patient Account Specialist, you will have responsibility for various business office functions for physician practices. These functions include conducting internal audits to meet regulatory and departmental standards, educating current associates in billing policies and procedures, and acting as a knowledge expert to resolve complex payer reimbursement issues. This work will be accomplished by communicating with patients, government agencies and third-party payers to gather, process and record information needed for appropriate reimbursement as well as interfacing with client leadership to respond to related inquiries. Responsible for workload distribution, on the job training, work review and simple complaint resolution under the direction of supervisor, and in accordance with supervisor's guidelines of at least three other staff members. Acts as information resource for standard policy and procedural questions. Maintains current knowledge and answers questions of other staff on procedures, policies, etc. Obtains needed information or decisions from supervisor on problems that arise. Gives on-the-job training to new employees in accordance with established procedures and practices. Instructs employees in specific tasks and work techniques and makes available written instructions, reference materials and supplies. Checks on work in progress, participates in performance audits, and reviews completed work to see that the supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines have been met. Distributes and balances workload among available staff, assuring timely accomplishment of the work and that each employee has enough work to keep busy. Reports to the supervisor on performance, progress, problems, training needs and quality improvement opportunities. Maintains employee records and reports as requested by the supervisor. Resolves simple informal complaints of employees. Assumes emergency leadership role in absence of supervisor.

Posted are the minimum and the maximum wage rates on the wage range for this position.  The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
