Overview

As the Senior Product Manager, Commerce Personalization & Recommendations, you will deliver high-performing commerce personalization. You will own REI's recommendation systems and manage mid and lower-funnel experiences. These efforts will improve discovery, evaluation, and conversion across our digital shopping surfaces.

In this role, you will set strategy and drive execution for personalization across web and app. You will partner closely with engineering, data science, merchandising, CX, and marketing teams. The goal is to deliver stable, scalable, and measurable impact across the shopping funnel.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

  • Own the product vision and roadmap for REI's commerce personalization and recommendation systems across web and app.
  • Manage end-to-end ownership of product recommendations, including UX, algorithms, data feeds, merchandising rules, experimentation, and vendor partnerships.
  • Define and deliver mid and lower-funnel personalization across Search, PDP, Cart, Checkout, and Post-Purchase experiences.
  • Build and maintain a prioritized experimentation and learning agenda to improve discovery, evaluation, conversion, and units per order.
  • Partner closely with engineering, data science, merchandising, app, CX, and marketing teams to deliver stable, high-performing personalization at scale.
  • Partner with platform/experience teams to execute select lower-funnel content personalization tactics using shared decisioning/experimentation capabilities.
  • Translate customer needs, behavioral signals, and predictive models into clear product requirements and measurable outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders and leadership on strategy, performance, risks, and tradeoffs.
Required Skills & Experience
  • 7+ years of product management experience, ideally in ecommerce, personalization, recommendations, or data-driven platforms.
  • Proven experience owning complex, cross-channel systems from strategy through execution.
  • Exceptional understanding of recommendation systems, personalization frameworks, experimentation, and decisioning models.
  • Experience working with engineering, data science, analytics, and merchandising teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to guide without authority and drive alignment across multiple teams.
  • Experience collaborating with engineers, data scientists, designers, and cross-functional partners to deliver customer-facing products.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts and data insights into clear product strategy and prioritization.
  • Track record of delivering measurable business impact in an agile environment.
  • Exceptional analytical mindset with comfort interpreting experiment results and performance metrics.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear narratives.

Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Experience in retail or omnichannel commerce environments.
  • Experience working with personalization or recommendation vendors and platforms.
  • Familiarity with predictive models, behavioral signals, and decisioning frameworks.
  • Experience leading initiatives spanning multiple digital surfaces (app and web).
