Kennedy Jenks is seeking a Senior Water and Wastewater Engineer to join our growing Water and Wastewater Infrastructure team in Washington. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who can provide technical leadership across a range of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

As a key technical resource, you’ll collaborate with project teams, mentor developing engineers, and help deliver practical, code-compliant solutions for clients and communities.

What You’ll Do

As a Senior Water and Wastewater Engineer, you’ll provide senior technical leadership across project design, quality review, team coordination, mentorship, and client support.

  • Lead technical design and problem-solving: Serve as a senior technical resource on water and wastewater projects involving process systems, collection and distribution systems, conveyance infrastructure, pump and lift stations, and treatment facilities.
  • Strengthen project quality: Provide QA/QC and technical review of designs, calculations, drawings, and specifications while developing practical, efficient, and code-compliant solutions.
  • Coordinate across teams and stakeholders: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and regulatory partners to support constructable, cost-effective, and well-aligned project outcomes.
  • Mentor and develop engineers: Guide junior and mid-level engineers through technical development, professional growth, and project execution.

Qualifications

  • Education: BS or MS in Civil, Environmental, or a related engineering field.
  • Experience: 10+ years of relevant water/wastewater engineering experience.
  • Mentorship: Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide junior engineers.
  • Technical background: Broad experience across water and wastewater systems, including process systems, pump and lift stations, pipelines, treatment facilities, and regulatory requirements.
  • Certifications or licenses: Professional Engineer (PE) license in Washington or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Travel: Willing to travel to project sites, client meetings, and Kennedy Jenks offices.

Kennedy Jenks supports a healthy work-life balance and utilizes a hybrid model of home and office work, with a minimum of two days per week in the office. This approach empowers our people to thrive, collaborate, and do their best work.

Salary range for this position is expected to be between $105,000 and $179,000, and may vary based upon education, experience, qualifications, licensure/certifications, and geographic location.
