Key job responsibilities
As an engineer on the Cinder team, you will:
- Solve complex, interesting problems to optimize the real-time ad serving flow and deliver impact for our customers
- Develop and maintain ad serving systems that serve multi-format ads at multi-million TPS scale while keeping costs optimal
- Own and drive your projects end to end
- Partner with other teams to guide them toward the right technical solutions
- Maintain a high technical bar for the team
- Collaborate with teammates to improve the overall ad serving ecosystem
About the team
The Cinder bidder delivers ad opportunities from Amazon-owned properties and external publishers in an efficient, scalable, and privacy-centric manner. The Cinder team builds and operates a high-performance (~2.5M peak TPS), low-latency service that fulfills all Amazon DSP demand across multiple ad formats. The system processes hundreds of billions of requests annually while maintaining millisecond-level response latencies and meeting strict SLA requirements. Basic Qualifications: - 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language Preferred Qualifications: - 4+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
