Sr Software Engineer, Reliability Engineering role at Gusto involves building tooling and infrastructure such as reliability dashboards, AI-driven alerting systems, and internal developer tools to promote operational excellence and self-service. The role includes driving strategic initiatives like leading the adoption of DevOps practices across product engineering teams, automating reliability and observability with AI/ML approaches, mentoring engineers and leaders on DevOps best practices, and establishing engineering standards and automation focused on usability, accessibility, and system resilience. Candidates should be strategic thinkers, resilient problem solvers, and strong communicators. Required experience includes 5+ years as a software engineer, implementation and integration of observability platforms (Datadog preferred), and experience with incident remediation and incident management programs.
