UW Medical Center-Northwest- Food and Nutrition Services has an outstanding opportunity for a Dietitian. This position supports the Behavioral Health Unit.
WORK SCHEDULE
- Part time, 60% FTE, 24 hrs/week
- Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8am-4:30pm
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

The Center for Behavioral Health and Learning (CBHL) at UW Medical Center - Northwest is a new, 150-bed facility in Seattle providing specialized, patient-centered care for serious mental illnesses. It offers inpatient care, long-term civil commitment treatment, and advanced neuromodulation therapies (ECT/TMS). The center serves as a key regional hub for psychiatric training, inpatient, and outpatient services, integrating with UW Medicine's broader mental health
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
- Assess patient nutritional status and needs, develops and implements nutritional care plans, and evaluates and reports those results appropriately
- Provide clinical dietitian services and/or nutrition education services in an inpatient setting
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Evaluate patients’ diet, nutritional needs, and lifestyle with an understanding of the impacts both of and on behavioral health care needs.Â
Develop comprehensive nutritional care plans to promote disease prevention, manage symptoms, and diagnose and treat malnutrition.Â
Coordinate patient care within a multidisciplinary care team.Â
Document care plan, results, and services provided.Â
Participate in clinical rounds and patient care conferences.Â
Educate inpatients on nutrition and diet, develop patient education curriculum and materials, and lead group classes.Â
Analyze effectiveness of services highlighting patient outcomes.Â
Assist in development and implementation of nutritional standards of careÂ
Participate in performance / quality improvement programs.Â
Participate in compliance activities to meet Joint Commission and other regulatory guidelines.Â
Support patient satisfaction and customer service initiatives.Â
Serve as a liaison between food services, the patients, and the care team by providing direction to diet technicians, diet clerks, and food services managers to ensure patient room meals are prepared and delivered in a manner consistent with nutritional care plan.Â
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree involving major study in food and nutrition or dietetics and registration as a Dietitian by the American Dietetic Association
- Eligible for registration at the time of hire and pass the registration examination within one year of date of hire.
