About the Role
- Licensed Veterinary Technician / Reports to: Back of House (BOH) Manager
What You'll Do
- High level focus on client experience and customer service
- Ensures high quality care for our patients
- Development of personal professional goals.
- Assists the veterinarian in medical, surgical and dental procedures; prepares patients for surgery
- Administers and monitors anesthesia; manages patients during surgery and recovery
- Takes Tech Appointments (vaccines, fluids, demonstrations etc.)
- Prepares estimates for procedures and discuss financial commitments with clients supporting hospital financial policies
Qualifications
Education, Licensure and Experience Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working as a veterinary technician (background in emergency/referral or specialty practices is a plus)
- Washington State Veterinary Technician License
General Requirements
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Genuinely enjoys working with animals and able to deal with them when they are stressed, ill or in pain.
- Well-spoken and approaches job duties in a mature and professional manner.
- Experience working in a team environment and collaborates well with all levels of team members.
- Stress management skills in a busy, fast-paced team atmosphere
- Excellent client communication skills.
- Physical Effort
- Work requires lifting and carrying animals (assisted by other staff members in lifting animals over 40 lbs.) and must be able to stand for extended periods of time and frequently work in a bent position.
- Working conditions:
- May be exposed to unpleasant odors including animal urine and feces, different noises, bites, scratches, and contagious diseases.
