Overview

The Senior Accountant is responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements, and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures. This role has a strong emphasis on general accounting activities, including open purchase order (PO) accruals, G&A expense analysis, and account reconciliations.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the execution of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including completing reconciliations, escalation and resolution of issues, and meeting deadlines.
  • Prepare and record journal entries.
  • Maintain integrity of the general ledger.
  • Prepare and review open PO accruals to ensure completeness and accuracy of expenses incurred but not invoiced.
  • Monitor and analyze G&A expenses, including identifying trends, variances, and required accrual adjustments.
  • Ensure proper expense recognition and partner with various business owners.:
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
  • Conduct balance sheet analytics and prepare variance commentary.
  • Ensure accuracy of financial reporting.
  • Perform variance analysis on P&L and balance sheet accounts.
  • Support financial reporting and trend analysis.:
  • Maintain accounting controls.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Work collaboratively with the Accounting, Finance, and various other departments to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial data.

Other Functions:

  • Participate in ad hoc projects.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • There are no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:                      

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of experience and instruction,
  • CPA preferred

Required Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of basic accounting concepts and procedures including account reconciliation.             

Experience Required:                           

  • 4 - 6 years accounting experience

Skill and Ability:                                     

  • Detail oriented.
  • Strong knowledge of accrual accounting, reconciliations, and financial analysis Problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Able to work in team environment.
  • Advanced Excel skills preferred.

The salary for this position is based on many factors such as role requirements, skill set, years of experience and other organizational needs. The estimated range is $80,000 - $90,000 per year.
