THE ROLE:

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will contribute to the design, analysis, and validation of advanced hardware platforms supporting high-performance computing, data center, and client systems. You will develop mechanical components and assemblies, perform FEA and structural analysis, and support validation efforts to ensure product reliability and performance.

You will work cross-functionally with electrical, manufacturing, reliability, and system engineering teams to deliver robust, high-quality mechanical solutions.

THE PERSON:

You have a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles and hands-on experience with 3D CAD tools. You bring working knowledge of structural analysis using industry-standard FEA tools and are motivated to apply these skills to real-world product development challenges.

You are a collaborative team player with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to interpret results and translate them into practical design improvements in a fast-paced engineering environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using 3D CAD tools (Creo preferred, SolidWorks acceptable)
  • Create and maintain detailed 2D drawings, GD&T, and engineering documentation in accordance with AMD and industry standards
  • Perform structural and vibration analyses using FEA tools such as Abaqus and/or ANSYS to assess mechanical integrity and product reliability
  • Support design trade studies, tolerance analysis, and material selection to meet product requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, thermal, manufacturing, quality, and suppliers throughout the product development lifecycle
  • Participate in design reviews, provide technical input, and implement feedback
  • Support prototype builds, system bring-up, debugging, and failure analysis
  • Assist with transition from development to manufacturing, including vendor engagement and design for manufacturability (DFM)

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with electronics packaging, compute hardware, or data center systems
  • Familiarity with sheet metal, cast, machined, and plastic component design
  • Familiarity with EE component layout, exposure to DXF file generation and ECAD (Allegro)
  • Exposure to thermal-mechanical coupling, vibration/shock, or reliability analysis, as well as FloTherm
  • Experience supporting products through prototype and manufacturing release phases
  • Knowledge of mechanical design and validation industry standards

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience in mechanical design or product development
