Job Summary
- G Ashley Inc is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Assistant Technical Designer to join our Technical Design team. The successful candidate will be driven, detail-focused, and excited to help shape garments that make women feel beautiful and powerful. As a key partner in our product development process, you will help bring our vision to life by ensuring our garments deliver the superior fit and quality our customers expect.
Key Responsibilities
- As a key partner in our product development process, you will help bring the Ashley Stewart vision to life by ensuring our garments deliver the superior fit and quality our customers expect.
- Create, update, and maintain detailed tech packs with precise construction notes, BOM components, and measurement guides.
- Take clear and thorough notes during fittings as needed.
- Measure samples for the team as needed and input measurements into PLM.
- Upload fit photos, comments, and measurement revisions ,set up tech packs in PLM as needed.
Assisting Technical Designers with fit comments and spec updates with supervision as needed.
Essential Qualifications
- Solid understanding of garment construction, sewing techniques, and patternmaking.
- Ability to follow direction of Head technical designer closely to stay on track with team priorities.
- High proficiency in PLM, Microsoft Office, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop; advanced Excel skills required.
- Experience supporting fittings, preparing specs, and documenting fit comments.
- A keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities at once.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners
- A proactive, self-motivated approach and desire to learn, grow, and contribute to a
collaborative team culture.
Education/Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in technical design.
- Bachelor’s or associate degree in Technical Design, Patternmaking, Fashion Design, or a related field.
This is a non-exempt position. The compensation for this role is $50,000 based on a 40-hour workweek.
This position is based in our Secaucus, NJ office 5 days a week.
