This role is a key member of the accounting team and is responsible for supervising other functions in the accounting department such as the AP team and GL accountants.  Provides accounting support to other areas of the business in manufacturing and distribution.  This role plays a key role in generating the monthly, quarterly and annual accounting cycles in preparing financial statements and participates in quarterly and annual audits as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, but are not limited to:

  • Manages balance sheet related schedules and prepares quarterly roll forwards
  • Leads the assigned accounting teams in creating process improvements and internal policies within best accounting practices in compliance with SOX and PCAOB standards
  • Oversees posting of bank transactions and bank reconciliations
  • Manages all shared services, accounting activities and projects for the team
  • Research accounting guidance to ensure transactions follow GAAP
  • Prepares trial balances of multiple facilities, which include intercompany transactions
  • Prepares documentation for, and participates in the annual audit of financial statements
  • Mentors the staff accountants to develop industry knowledge and ensure company-wide compliance with legal regulations and standard accounting practices
  • Establishes internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation
  • Coordinates the preparation and filing of property tax reports
  • Manages and reviews journal entries processed by the accounting team
  • Any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor or a senior member of the management team and considered a business necessity

EDUCATION & EXPEREINCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting alongside five years of related experience and or the equivalent combination of training and experience which indicates the ability to do the job.
  • Experience in leading a team and implementing process improvement in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. Must be able to multitask and pivot to changing priorities.
  • Strong managerial and organizational skills; accurate and detail oriented as well as the ability to communicate effectively with staff at various levels.
  •  Attention to detail and accuracy is necessary. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS & Competencies

Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, team members, customers, and the public.
