TITLE: Logistics Engineer

 

POSITION OBJECTIVE:  The Logistics Engineer is a critical member of the Supply Chain team responsible for planning, coordinating, and optimizing the end-to-end movement of raw materials and finished goods sourced from Thailand and China. Ensure the transportation of products that meet or exceed customer expectations by working closely with various departments within and outside of the organization.  This role serves as the primary liaison between overseas suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and internal operations stakeholders to ensure that international shipments arrive on time, within budget, and in full compliance with all applicable trade regulations.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in, Logistics Engineering, or a closely related field
  • 3–6 years of progressive experience in international logistics, global freight operations, or supply chain engineering
  • Demonstrated experience managing ocean and air freight from Asia-Pacific origins, specifically Thailand and/or China
  • Working knowledge of U.S. import regulations, HTS classification, Incoterms 2020, and customs entry processes
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent) and transportation management systems (TMS)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret freight data, transit metrics, and cost performance
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to communicate effectively across cultures and time zones
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point and Adobe Illustrator & Premiere Pro
  • Basic understanding of production processes and industry standards
  • Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.
  • Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interaction

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze logistics data (transit times, freight costs, customs hold rates) to identify bottlenecks and drive continuous improvement
  • Model and evaluate alternative routing strategies, port-of-entry options, and modal shifts to reduce total landed cost
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all international logistics processes
  • Lead root cause analysis for recurring shipment delays, damage claims, or compliance failures and implement corrective actions
  • Support S&OP and production planning teams with accurate lead time data and inbound inventory visibility
  • Coordinate with overseas suppliers to confirm purchase order readiness, cargo booking, and on-time container loading
  • Issue and review all required shipping documentation: Bill of Lading, Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Certificate of Origin, Shipper's Letter of Instruction (SLI), and any applicable phytosanitary or inspection certificates
  • Maintain accurate shipment records and communicate status updates to procurement, planning, and operations teams
  •  Monitor in-transit shipments via TMS/visibility platforms and proactively manage exceptions, delays, or rerouting needs
  • Notify warehouses of all shipment schedules and/or deviations daily
  • Closely works with and supports other departments such as Cartoning and Supply Chain
  • Perform special projects as assigned.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by management.
