Manages the plants refrigeration team. Assigns tasks, training of staff, audits quality of work, solves technical issues. Makes sure safety procedures are followed and proper PPE is used. Coordinates with outside vendors and government agencies to ensure PSM compliance. Is a member of the plant's Haz Mat team trained to incident command level. Is aware of all environmental concerns or issues relating to ammonia refrigeration.
Duties/Activities Required by Job     Â
- Managing the maintenance, repair and improvement of refrigeration systems and equipment and cost control.
- Managing staffing, development, and performance management of electricians.
- Monitoring and ensuring area metrics are met; Cost/ lb., M&R budget.
- Managing programs to ensure safety of people, premises and property and regulatory compliance, including the PSM program.
- Complying with HR/ Safety policies and procedures including; verifying Kronos and Fusion activity, overseeing disciplinary action process, ensuring safety and certification training is completed on time.
Educations/Experience Requirements  Â

- Bachelor's degree in a relevant Maintenance field desired. Technical degree/training and/or relevant certifications in industrial refrigeration systems, or
- 5-7 +Â yrs. demonstrated maintenance management experience in a manufacturing environment, must include successful track record managing 7-10 mechanics, including refrigeration mechanics experience will be considered in lieu of degree, previous poultry experience preferred, previous manufacturing management experience required if no poultry.
- Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator and or RETA certification Level IV, must have completed Level IV test and certification; advanced knowledge of routine/non-routine refrigeration preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, transfer and recovery and installation. Advanced knowledge of theory and skills to safely and successfully function as a senior-level mechanic. Some experience with financial analysis in a Maintenance setting (Agristats), HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) in depth knowledge and experience. Knowledge of USDA regulations on sanitation, pre-operations guidelines and operations.
