Carolina Psychiatry, DBA Taral Sharma MD PC, provides compassionate, evidence-based outpatient mental health care for adults and adolescents throughout South Carolina. Our multidisciplinary team includes psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, physician assistants, therapists, and other behavioral health professionals who work together to provide personalized care.
We treat patients experiencing depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, ADHD, and other behavioral health conditions through psychotherapy, psychiatric evaluations, medication management, Spravato®, and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS).
Position Summary
Carolina Psychiatry is seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Outpatient Therapist to join our Seneca practice. The therapist will provide individual, family, and other clinically appropriate psychotherapy services to adults, adolescents, or both, based on the therapist’s experience and qualifications.
This full-time position requires a consistent Monday-through-Friday schedule and an expected patient volume of approximately 35 visits per week. The therapist will collaborate closely with psychiatric providers and other members of the clinical team to support coordinated, individualized treatment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and gather relevant behavioral, social, and family histories.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on each patient’s diagnosis, clinical needs, strengths, and goals.
- Provide evidence-based individual psychotherapy to adults, adolescents, or both.
- Provide family or couples therapy when clinically appropriate and within the therapist’s training and scope of practice.
- Maintain an expected patient volume of approximately 35 completed visits per week.
- Assess patients for depression, anxiety, trauma, mood disorders, behavioral concerns, safety risks, and other mental health needs.
- Monitor progress toward treatment goals and update treatment plans as clinically appropriate.
- Complete suicide-risk assessments, safety plans, and crisis interventions when indicated.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, therapists, and other members of the treatment team.
- Coordinate care with families, primary care providers, schools, and community resources when appropriate and authorized.
- Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, coping skills, treatment recommendations, and available resources.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Follow all applicable ethical, legal, clinical, and organizational requirements.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries.
- Participate in clinical meetings, case consultations, and quality-improvement activities.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, psychology, or a related behavioral health field.
- Current South Carolina clinical license or eligibility to obtain the appropriate license before beginning employment.
- Appropriate credentials may include LPC, LISW-CP, LMFT, or an equivalent independently licensed behavioral health designation.
- Knowledge of behavioral health assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and psychotherapy.
- Ability to maintain a consistent caseload and meet the expectation of approximately 35 patient visits per week.
- Strong communication, organization, time-management, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary outpatient team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous outpatient behavioral health experience.
- Experience treating adults, adolescents, or both.
- Experience working with depression, anxiety, trauma, mood disorders, ADHD, and other common behavioral health conditions.
- Training in evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, or solution-focused therapy.
- Experience collaborating with psychiatric prescribers and other healthcare professionals.
