Gallaher Co. is looking for an experienced and dependable Fleet Mechanic to join our team and help keep our vehicles and equipment safe, reliable, and ready for the field.


This is an in-house fleet position working on a diverse fleet that supports our construction, restoration, and service operations. You'll work on everything from cars and service vans to medium- and heavy-duty trucks, construction equipment, forklifts, and other specialized equipment.


We're looking for someone who is a strong troubleshooter, takes pride in their work, and understands that keeping our fleet moving is critical to keeping our field teams moving.


What You'll Be Doing

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on a variety of company vehicles and equipment, including:
    • Cars and service vehicles
    • Light-duty trucks
    • Medium- and heavy-duty trucks
    • Construction equipment
    • Forklifts
    • Other specialized equipment
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and engine problems
  • Conduct vehicle and equipment inspections to identify safety concerns, damage, wear, and upcoming maintenance needs
  • Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, fluid services, and other preventative maintenance
  • Repair or replace defective and worn parts as needed
  • Identify potential problems before they result in breakdowns or costly downtime
  • Respond to vehicle and equipment issues reported by our field teams
  • Help determine when repairs should be completed in-house versus sent to an outside vendor
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, repairs, and services performed
  • Communicate with management regarding vehicle status, needed repairs, parts, and expected completion timelines
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop and work area
  • Follow all company safety procedures and applicable regulations
  • Perform other reasonable fleet and shop-related duties as assigned

What We're Looking For

  • Previous professional experience as a Fleet Mechanic, Automotive Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, Equipment Mechanic, or similar role
  • Experience maintaining and repairing a variety of vehicles and equipment
  • Strong mechanical diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and engine systems
  • Experience with medium/heavy-duty trucks and construction or specialized equipment is strongly preferred
  • Ability to independently diagnose problems and determine appropriate repairs
  • Experience safely operating automotive diagnostic tools and shop equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
  • Ability to prioritize repairs and manage multiple vehicles or pieces of equipment
  • Dependable, organized, and able to communicate effectively with both field employees and management
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

Physical Requirements

This is a hands-on position. The Fleet Mechanic must be able to perform the physical functions normally associated with vehicle and equipment maintenance, including standing for extended periods, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, working underneath vehicles or equipment, using hand and power tools, and lifting and moving parts and equipment.
