SUMMARY: A Laundry Attendant processes linens, towels, blankets and spreads. The Laundry Attendants primary role is removing stains, washing and drying of dirty linens as well as folding and re-stocking shelves with clean inventory.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time. 

  • Ensures all stained items are pre-treated with proper chemicals
  • Responsible for using appropriate machines to clean towels and linens.  Includes making sure items are washed, dried, folded and stored properly, in a timely manner
  • Observes machine operations and report any mechanical problems or malfunctions to supervisor
  • Ensures laundry chemicals are properly installed on equipment
  • Informs supervisor or manager if laundry chemicals need to be re-stocked
  • Sort linen, terry, and other bedding from incoming laundry carts
  • Cleans the lint filters for dryers as scheduled
  • Set aside and tracks pieces that are damaged, so they can be removed from inventory
  • Responsible for informing supervisor when chemicals need to be changed
  • Uses the chemicals that have been provided in accordance with directions; familiarizes self with material safety data sheets and uses PPE (personal protective equipment) as necessary
  • Practices safety procedures, including bending, lifting and safe use of equipment.  Includes following safe procedures for protection against blood borne pathogens
  • Reports hazardous conditions in work area or equipment, to Management
  • Build terry linen metros for delivery
  • Build Villa/Cabin buggies for the following day
  • All other duties as assigned by management

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Level 3

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Level 2 Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Level 2

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

 

 

REASONING ABILITY: Level 1

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.  Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
