Supervisor, Wastewater Treatment


Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise the Wastewater Treatment Department including 3 shifts and around the clock operations.
  • Follow all permits/plans (MSOP/NPDES, Wastewater, SPCC, SWPPP). Maintain these plans and update accordingly.
  • Conduct inspections of plant, grounds, and equipment.
  • Schedule Wastewater operations.
  • Monitor, log, and analyze systems and processes.
  • Complete required reports to the city of Seymour.
  • Assist the Environmental & WW Manager in planning for new equipment or processes to ensure they are compliant with permits and submit modification requests to regulatory agencies.
  • Monitor daily flow to “reuse” and water that goes to city sewer.
  • Advise/contribute to any special projects (waste reduction / recycling, etc).
  • Manage inventory and prepare/submit purchase requisitions for all chemicals, replacement parts, and supplies for the department.
  • Order chemicals and supplies for the department. 


Requirements

  • Must have minimum Class C with BS in Chemistry/Biology and 4 years at a Class D facility, or a Class 4 certification.
  • Class D WWT License issued by the state of Indiana preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to ready utility drawings.
  • Ability to use various hand tools, pH meter, water hardness tester.
  • Ability to work outside “normal” work hours, as needed.


Working Conditions

  • Exposure to loud noise levels, dust, heat and cold and various chemicals while in plant area (lubricants, cutting fluids, drawing oils). Stooping, reaching, climbing and lifting up to 50lbs. Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time. Hardhats, long sleeves, safety shoes, earplugs and safety glasses are a requirement to be worn at all times while in the plant.
