JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Supervisor, Production FLSA CLASS: Exempt

REPORTS TO: Manager, Production REVISION DATE: May 1, 2025


SCOPE: The Production Supervisor oversees and manages the production shift employees and ensures compliance with safety, quality, and quantity standards. The Supervisor will lead by example and ensure and environment that is physically and emotionally safe for all employees.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees manufacturing operations on assigned shift in assigned areas, to include overseeing production goals, machine operations, and on-time shipment of goods to customers, quality assurance, and employee issues.
  • Identifies and records problem issues and initiates appropriate action relating to production processes.
  • Identifies resource requirements, including assignment of personnel.
  • Ensures that quality product is produced; maintenance of machines is reported and accomplished as needed.
  • Ensures safety guidelines are followed, employee work areas are neat and clean at end of shift.
  • Ensures employee training needs are met.
  • Supervises group leaders; development of future Group Leaders and operators.
  • Maintains and executes DPA’s.
  • Responsible for department’s environmental waste; Responsible for the use and disposal of consumable supplies.

 

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

  • Some college plus five years’ experience in manufacturing environment with at least two years’ experience at the supervisory level preferred. 
  • Microsoft office skills. 
  • Able to operate forklift (preferable). 


WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Exposure to loud noise levels, dust, heat and cold and various chemicals while in plant area (lubricants, cutting fluids, drawing oils). Stooping, reaching, climbing and lifting up to 50 lbs. Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time. Hardhats, safety shoes, earplugs and safety glasses are a requirement to be worn at all times while in the plant.
