JOB DESCRIPTION
Position:Â Shuttle Driver
Reports to:Â Delivery Manager
Job Summary
The Shuttle Driver is responsible for transporting remote trailers of products between designated drop-and-hook locations safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company and DOT regulations. This position plays a key role in ensuring timely trailer movement to support warehouse and delivery operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely operate a Class A commercial vehicle for shuttle assignments.
- Confirm and document the trailer number prior to hooking up for departure.
- Navigate drop locations and perform drop-and-hook procedures in a safe and timely manner.
- Accurately maintain logs and records, including trailer numbers, trip details, and any incidents.
- Collaborate closely with night shift managers and other shuttle drivers to coordinate schedules and address operational needs.
- Ensure cleanliness and basic upkeep of the assigned tractor; report any maintenance concerns to management immediately.
- Comply with all company safety procedures and traffic laws.
- Support team and operations by performing other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED (preferred)
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) (required)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience operating a Class A vehicle (preferred but not required)
- Clean driving record (required)
Skills and Competencies
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Knowledge of local and regional roads, highways, and traffic regulations
- Ability to operate independently and manage time effectively
- Basic vehicle inspection and reporting abilities
- Commitment to safety and following DOT and company guidelines
- Ability to work overnight or evening shifts, including weekends if neededÂ
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for long periods while operating a commercial vehicle
- Able to perform drop-and-hook tasks, including bending, climbing, and connecting hoses or cables
- Capability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion
