JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Shuttle Driver

Reports to: Delivery Manager

Job Summary

The Shuttle Driver is responsible for transporting remote trailers of products between designated drop-and-hook locations safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company and DOT regulations. This position plays a key role in ensuring timely trailer movement to support warehouse and delivery operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Safely operate a Class A commercial vehicle for shuttle assignments.
Confirm and document the trailer number prior to hooking up for departure.
Navigate drop locations and perform drop-and-hook procedures in a safe and timely manner.
Accurately maintain logs and records, including trailer numbers, trip details, and any incidents.
Collaborate closely with night shift managers and other shuttle drivers to coordinate schedules and address operational needs.
Ensure cleanliness and basic upkeep of the assigned tractor; report any maintenance concerns to management immediately.
Comply with all company safety procedures and traffic laws.
Support team and operations by performing other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED (preferred)
Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) (required)
Minimum of 2 years of experience operating a Class A vehicle (preferred but not required)
Clean driving record (required)

Skills and Competencies

Strong communication and teamwork skills
Knowledge of local and regional roads, highways, and traffic regulations
Ability to operate independently and manage time effectively
Basic vehicle inspection and reporting abilities
Commitment to safety and following DOT and company guidelines
Ability to work overnight or evening shifts, including weekends if needed

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit for long periods while operating a commercial vehicle
Able to perform drop-and-hook tasks, including bending, climbing, and connecting hoses or cables
Capability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion
