SUMMARY OF POSITION:  The Early On provider provides services to students with IFSPs (meets eligibility for special education programs/services) through the Primary Service Provider (PSP) model. The Early On provider assists with evaluations as part of a multidisciplinary team for children suspected of having a disability. Early On services consist of parent coaching and training through home visits across the county. Early On providers act as a liaison between parents, community agencies, and other providers within the multidisciplinary team. 

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assessment/Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team Responsibilities

  1. Participates with the Multidisciplinary Evaluation of students suspected of having a disability as required by law or as identified in the Evaluation Review process.
  2. Assist with coordinating referrals and pre-referral consultations.
  3. Explain parental rights during the referral process.
  4. Review the Parent Handbook with parents/guardians.
  5. Secure parental consent to evaluate students suspected of having a disability.
  6. Gather developmental data and develop a service plan with parental input.
  7. Assist with the initial and re-evaluation process

Services

  1. Facilitate IFSP Team meetings for special education students who receive services within their caseload.
  2. Utilize resources found in the school and community to meet the needs of special education students.
  3. Coach parents who need assistance in understanding child growth and child management techniques.
  4. Assist in conducting in-service training within the Early On team 
  5. Serve as a liaison to community agencies.
  6. Attend Primary Service Provider (PSP) meetings to collaborate with other Early On providers to meet student and family needs.
  7. Travel throughout the county to provide in-home services to children and families. 

Reports and Records

  1. Complete necessary and appropriate reports.
  2. Write goals and instructional objectives for all students receiving service.
  3. Maintain appropriate and orderly student files.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Use proper phone etiquette in communication with parents, agencies, and colleagues 
  2. Maintain professional competency by attending staff meetings, conferences, workshops, and participating in professional organizations.
  3. Willingness to learn and utilize basic keyboarding and computer skills.
  4. Willingness to receive additional training to improve job skills.
  5. Other duties as requested by the Supervisor.

MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Meet the State Special Education requirements to be an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher, Speech and Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, or other certified early childhood special education provider. 
  2. Direct experience with the support of children ages birth through 3. 
  3. Demonstrate oral and written communication skills.
  4. Demonstrate conflict resolution skills.
  5. Demonstrate skills to work effectively with staff, school administrators, and outside agencies in the delivery of special education services.
  6. Demonstrate the ability to work successfully with students, parents, staff, community, and advocacy groups.
  7. Demonstrate the ability to function in a total organizational context.
  8. Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable transportation.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS PACKAGE:  As per Saginaw Intermediate School District's teacher (SIFT) contract.
