YOUR OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting Customer Broker opportunity in our Merriam, KS office. In this highly impactful role, you will be a key member of the Seaboard Transport Logistics Team. The Customer Broker will plan, build, assist, and coordinate customer brokered freight moving throughout the United States.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Vet and build carrier base to haul available loads.
  • Solicit existing customers to secure and grow customer base.
  • Maintain carrier files- Safestat scores, insurance certificates and broker contracts.
  • Negotiate the rate to pay carrier and ensure adequate margins.
  • Enter loads in the TMS system, PowerPro.
  • Make necessary appointments for pickups and deliveries.
  • Monitor loads in progress, verify pickups and deliveries, ensure clean bills.
  • Review submitted paperwork, confirm rate billed with load confirmation and approval for payment.
  • Grow revenues and monitor profit margins through customers.
  • Must be available around the clock to handle operational problems as they arise.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Required:

  • 5+ years’ experience in transportation logistics required.
  • 3+ years’ experience as a transportation broker required.
  • Current knowledge of industry rates regarding lanes and various segments of the transportation industry preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to resolve and overcome issues, problems, and roadblocks to meet objectives.
  • Extremely self-motivated and able to work effectively on your own.
  • Existing carrier and customer base preferred.

 

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferred.
  • Intermediate in Microsoft Office; Word and Excel and COGNOS, preferred.
  • Add skills and/or Core Competencies, preferred.

 

SCHEDULE

  • Monday Through Friday 8 am -5 pm
