The role you’ll contribute:
Britain Development is an early intervention program for children from birth through six years of age with special needs. The Early Childhood Special Education Teacher conducts individual and group treatment to assist young children with special needs and typically developing peers to develop maximum cognitive, social, self-help, communication, motor, and sensory processing skills. S/he conducts annual assessments of children on caseload and develops classroom goals for each child. S/he is accountable for practicing within the parameters of the Kansas Department of Education, and all regulatory standards and established policies, protocols, and procedures. The Early Childhood Special Education Teacher demonstrates leadership/management skills and a commitment to professional accountability and growth. The Early Childhood Special Education Teacher serves as a role model for the mission, vision and values of AdventHealth Shawnee Mission.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
Conduct annual assessments of children on caseload and develops classroom goals for each child.
Teach individual children and groups of children with special needs and typically developing peers to develop maximum cognitive, communication, self-help, social, sensory processing, and motor skills.
Collaborate with other team members including physical, occupational, speech-language and music therapists as well as paraprofessionals and BCBA.
Oversee all aspects of the classroom including development of daily lesson plans, equipment needs, safety, etc.
Keep materials, toys, and equipment in classroom, playground, storage areas, etc. clean and organized.
Required Qualifications:
Master's Required

CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation through the American Heart Association Required
First Aid Certification Required
Kansas Teaching License or Provisional License for Early Childhood Special Education, Early Childhood Handicapped, or Early Childhood Unified Required
Entry level competency of behavior analytic practice
Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
Must be able to read, write, and speak conversational English
