Job DetailsJob Location: Sheboygan, WI 53081Utilizes sound technical knowledge of polymeric materials, polymer testing, and analytical techniques to lead projects that will focus on improve existing product performance, reducing cost, and developing new products. Will occasionally assist with project related lab work to perform routine and non-routine testing utilizing various analytical instruments and will continue writing detailed technical reports to communicate findings to Senior Management and Commercial Team. What You'll Be Doing: • Lead a portfolio of development and other projects as assigned • Utilize current internal work request and project management systems to execute projects • Follow-up and day to day engagement to ensure project roadblocks are overcome and timelines are maintained and pushed • Host project meetings and cross functional project reviews • Follow projects through their entire lifecycle from idea through verification and validation • Occasional travel to end use customer plant locations for initial commercial launch • Utilizes basic statistical analysis to assist in evaluating data obtained from experimental work • Understand and effectively utilize analytical resources available to further projects • Assist in generation of new project ideas through literature research What You Need to Succeed: Requirements BS/BA Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Technology or Polymer Engineering In depth understanding of statistical methods and experimental design techniques Experience in writing lab/ technical reports Excellent oral and written communication skills Proficiency with the MS Office suite of programs Familiarity with polymer chemistry and synthesis Base knowledge of appropriate scientific principles related to their core business unit work Experience with DSC, TGA, Rheology (both Rotational and Capillary) and FTIR Familiarity with polymer extrusion and compounding techniques, specifically Twin-Screw Extrusion, Farrel Continuous Mixing, Buss Co Kneader, and Single Screw Extrusion Project Management Training / Experience Preferred Skills Experience in a manufacturing environment (specifically Polymers is a bonus) Experience with in-depth Analytical techniques (i.e., HPLC, GC/MS, GPC etc.) Advanced Degree in a scientific discipline Lean Six Sigma Training Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and/or walk, talk and/or hear, and/or use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls.
