Sonic Summary

Richco Structures is seeking to expand their design team with a truss designer position that requires reading residential and commercial plans to design wood trusses using specialized software.
The designer will be responsible for interpreting architectural and structural drawings, designing structural components, and producing detailed plans for trusses.
Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of design or drafting experience, although training is available for those with less experience.
The role requires strong math skills, basic computer knowledge, and effective verbal and written communication abilities.

Truss designer reads residential and commercial plans to design wood trusses using software for roof, floor and wall truss systems. The designer communicates both verbally and written to members of the team, customers and production staff to ensure the designs are accurate and to the customers specifications.

Duties include

Read and interpret architectural and structural drawings
Design structural components
Produce individual plans and final layouts for roof, floor and wall trusses.
Resolve any discrepancies as needed

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years design or drafting experience/training preferred. Will train.
Basic computer knowledge.
Knowledge of construction industry preferred
Strong math skills
Ability to communicate orally and written
Strong work ethic
