Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Plant Manager, The Fitter/Welder will be responsible for but not limited to:

 

  • Read and follow detailed written instructions and fabrication drawings.
  • Perform accurate measurements and calculations using feet, inches, and fractions.
  • Successfully pass a 1-inch thick 2-G welder qualification.
  • Pass a tack welder qualification (visual macro break test).
  • Operate carbon air-arc equipment for back gouging processes.
  • Ensure safe work practices are adhered to, and appropriate PPE is worn at all times.
  • Mentor's apprentices and junior fitters by sharing knowledge and safe work practices.

  • Shelby Fabrication Facility
  • 1st Shift
  • Monday to Friday

 

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of Fitting/Welding structural steel experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to read a tape measure.
  • Ability to operate overhead cranes.
  • Current or past AWS certification for FCAW, MCAW.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures.
  • A team player, who can interrelate and operate effectively with peers and other associates within

         a collegial, yet demanding, work environment.

  • Organization skills and the ability to be flexible in managing changing priorities.
  • Communication skills – both written and oral.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
