Position Summary
The Dietary Assistant plays an important role in enhancing the health and well-being of our residents by helping prepare and serve nutritious, high-quality meals in a welcoming dining environment. Working alongside our Dietary Services team, this position supports food preparation, meal service, sanitation, and resident satisfaction while ensuring dietary needs and preferences are met with care and compassion.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation, portioning, and serving of meals in accordance with approved menus and dietary guidelines.
- Ensure meals are served accurately, attractively, and in a timely manner while honoring residents' dietary restrictions and preferences.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, dining room, and food preparation areas.
- Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment while following infection prevention and sanitation standards.
- Assist with stocking, inventory management, and receiving food and supply deliveries.
- Provide courteous, resident-centered service that creates a positive dining experience.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, nursing staff, and the Dietary Services team regarding dietary needs and concerns.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, infection prevention, and workplace safety policies.
- Support special events, holiday meals, and other dining activities as needed.
- Promote teamwork and contribute to a positive, respectful work environment.

Requirements
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and customer service skills.
- Commitment to providing compassionate, resident-centered service.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the Dietary Services team.
- Ability to follow food safety, sanitation, and infection prevention guidelines.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including lifting up to 50 pounds, prolonged standing and walking, bending, pushing, pulling, and working in a kitchen environment.
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience in food service, dietary services, hospitality, healthcare, or long-term care.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and infection prevention practices.
- Experience serving older adults or individuals with specialized dietary needs.
- Experience working in a team-oriented environment with a focus on customer service.
- Passion for creating positive dining experiences that support residents' health and well-being.
