Inspector A is responsible for inspecting in‑house and supplier‑produced machined parts, fabricated sheet‑metal components, and controlled inspection/production tooling. This role ensures all manufactured items meet applicable drawings, standards, and specifications, and completes all required inspection documentation and reports.

Key Skills:

  • Proficient with specialized inspection tools (CMMs, optical comparators, hardness testers, profilometers, conductivity and coating‑thickness meters).
  • Skilled in standard precision instruments (micrometers, calipers, bore gages, dial indicators, height gages).
  • Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and apply shop math, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Basic knowledge of machining, sheet‑metal fabrication, welding, and assembly processes.
  • Competent with computer applications and digital documentation systems.
  • Ability to work independently, manage workload efficiently, and maintain high accuracy.
  • Capable of developing inspection setups, surface‑plate layouts, and techniques for accurate measurement.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of inspection or similar experience (an engineering degree may substitute for up to 3 years of the required experience).

Additional Requirements:

  • Proficient in specialized inspection tools, including CMMs, optical comparators, hardness testers, profilometers, conductivity meters, and coating‑thickness meters.
  • Skilled in standard precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, bore gages, dial indicators, and height gages.
  • Ability to prepare First Article Reports, First Piece Reports, and Nonconforming Material Reports.
  • Ability to maintain inspection and tooling records, including jigs, fixtures, and templates.
