Opportunity

The GeneralSupervisor leads day to day operations in Assembly at AFO. Responsible forachieving goals in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost andSustainability for Assembly. Provides highly visible front-line leadership toengage and inspire the team.  Establishes basic and consistent flow throughthe factory. 
Drivescontinuous improvement in all areas of the Value Stream from customer order tocustomer delivery. Leads cross functional collaboration with ProductEngineering and Marketing groups to achieve this goal. Demonstrates arelentless commitment to eliminate all forms of waste within the Value Stream.

 Specific Responsibilities

  • Achievesrequired output levels both in terms of total throughput and the achievement ofassembly times.
  •  Works todevelop assembly leads and supervisors to ensure continued growth andeffectiveness within the department.
  • Establishesand maintains an effective 5S culture.
  • Identifiesand drives improvement throughout the value stream, emphasizing a focus on theend customer and achieving consistent and quick delivery to the end user.
  • Develops andenforces standard work. Conducts standard work audits as needed to achieverequired targets.
  • Assumesresponsibility and accountability for successfully achieving goals orcompleting assignments.
  • Developsappropriate metrics, clearly communicates goals to the team, and measuresperformance against the established goals.
  • Communicatesdaily on PH2 targets and schedule adherence. Works with scheduling to ensureproper execution of the schedule to achieve past due and strategic coretargets.
  • Leads anddevelops the manufacturing area, utilizing best practices in visual managementto communicate and monitor group performance, including, but not limited to,glass walls.
  • Conductsdaily Tier 2 meetings with all assembly leadership.
  • Participatesin daily production meetings and reports out on the status of Assembly usingthe Tier 2 board, to include: SQDC.
  • Identifieswaste in all forms and leads projects to eliminate waste.
  • Guides theAssembly team on the continued development of the “model cell.”
  • Promotes andexecutes effective TPM program.

  • Establishesrealistic OEE baselines and improvement objectives.
  • Creates aculture of continuous improvement with high levels of associate engagementthrough: The active collection and execution of improvement ideas; works with upper management to foster their engagement and activeparticipation; works to achieve and sustain Tier 4 status in KSMS, KQMS; celebrates success through individual and group recognition activities.

Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, preferably in a technical field. Master's in Business Administration, or related Master’s degree, preferred. Related experience can be substituted for education if the candidate is currently degree seeking.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience directly with tools and methods in Quality, Lean, Continuous Improvement, or other known improvement systems, in discrete or continuous manufacturing environments.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of leadership experience.
  • Ability to teach, mentor, and coach across multiple levels of the operation (shop floor to plant manager) so the customer can maintain and improve standards developed through kaizen events.
  • Proven ability to use systematic problem solving to solve technical challenges.
  • Proven ability to communicate across broad levels of business: from shop floor to executive leaders using effective methods.
  • Excellent team facilitation skills.  Build teams in a collaborative work style; proven success in team building and motivating others.
  • Strong leadership and change agent skills.  Able to build and maintain relationships using influence, teamwork, and positive facilitation to overcome obstacles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio (Access Preferred), and SharePoint required.
