Position: Entry-Level Civil Engineer - Transportation / Highway (DOT)

Seeking an entry-level civil engineer supporting roadway and highway design and transportation engineering projects.

 

THE ROLE 

As an entry-level Civil Engineer in our Transportation group, you will support the design of highway and bridge projects for DOT clients. Working under a Professional Engineer, you’ll gain hands-on experience with roadway design, including plan development and construction documentation, while building the technical foundation needed to progress toward your PE license. Key responsibilities: 

  • Assist with roadway and transportation design for highway and bridge projects.
  • Support plan production, including drawings, modeling, and design calculations.
  • Assist with quantity takeoffs and cost estimates.
  • Help prepare construction documents and plan sets.
  • Contribute to problem-solving with guidance from licensed engineers.
  • Support project teams through the coordination and completion of assigned tasks.
  • Assist with construction administration activities, including RFIs and submittals.
  • Participate in field observations and site visits as needed.
  • Develop technical skills and apply engineering principles to real-world projects.

YOUR STRENGTHS

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction engineering technology, or equivalent ABET-accredited engineering program
  • 0–3+ years of experience with civil engineering design and construction projects
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) professional designation preferred or willing to obtain soon after hire
  • Exposure to engineering design software such as AutoCAD or Civil3D
  • Technical mindset for troubleshooting and resolving complex problems
  • Strong communication, both verbal and written
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record is required for periodic travel
