What You'll Do

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and ongoing mental health treatment while collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.

Your responsibilities may include:

Psychiatric Care

  • Perform psychiatric evaluations, health histories, and mental health assessments.

  • Develop individualized treatment plans.

  • Provide medication management and prescribe medications within established guidelines.

  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and medications.

  • Provide counseling and support when appropriate.

Clinical Documentation & Compliance

  • Complete timely documentation within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.

  • Maintain accurate progress notes in accordance with Medicaid, Medicare, and agency requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, licensing, and quality standards.

  • Utilize appropriate coding and billing practices.

Collaboration & Care Coordination

  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, primary care providers, and community partners.

  • Coordinate patient care across internal and external providers.

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and multidisciplinary meetings.

  • Assist with prior authorizations, prescription refills, and continuity of care.

Qualifications

Required

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) License.

  • Nurse Practitioner certification (FNP or Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner credentials as required).

  • Current DEA registration.

  • Current CPR certification.

  • ACLS and PALS certifications.

  • Minimum one year of experience in a community clinic or similar healthcare setting.

  • Experience providing psychiatric care.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong psychiatric assessment and diagnostic skills.

  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.

  • Ability to manage a diverse patient population.

  • Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR).

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
