What if your next project shaped how communities grow and function?

At HR Green, our Civil Engineers don’t just design plans, they help build the infrastructure that supports how people live, move, and connect every day.

We’re looking for a Civil Staff Engineer - Land Development who’s ready to take on more ownership, expand their technical impact, and work across  Land Development.

Why this role is different: This isn’t a narrow, siloed position.

You’ll work across site development + critical utility infrastructure, giving you the kind of well-rounded experience that accelerates your growth and opens doors to future leadership. In this role, you will contribute to the design and delivery of projects that shape both private development and public infrastructure, from commercial and residential communities to the systems that support them.

You won’t just be “doing design work” you’ll be:

  • Influencing how projects are planned and executed
  • Working directly with clients and municipalities
  • Seeing your work move from concept → construction → real-world impact
  • With a primary focus in land development and exposure to municipal services, you will be involved in planning, design, permitting, and construction support, gaining experience across the full project lifecycle.
  • You will work alongside experienced engineers who will support your development as you build confidence and expand your technical capabilities. Over time, you will take on greater independence, manage your work within project schedules and budgets, and play a more active role in delivering successful outcomes.
  • As your experience grows, you will also have the opportunity to guide junior team members and contribute to the overall success of the team.

What you’ll be doing (aka where you make your impact)

  • Design and deliver civil/site and utility infrastructure projects—from grading and stormwater to water and wastewater systems
  • Take ownership of project components (and in some cases, entire projects)
  • Partner with clients, municipalities, and internal teams to solve real-world infrastructure challenges
  • Lead or contribute to QA/QC efforts to ensure high-quality, buildable designs
  • Support projects through the full lifecycle—from early planning through construction
  • Mentor junior engineers and help elevate the team around you

You might be a great fit if…

  • You’re ready to move beyond task execution and want more ownership
  • You enjoy working across multiple project types instead of being siloed
  • You want exposure to both land development AND water/wastewater systems
  • You’re looking for a firm where growth doesn’t take 10+ years
  • A Clear pathway to leadership is what you are looking for in your next role
  • Diverse project exposure across markets excites you
  • A culture that values both technical excellence and people is valuable to you

What you bring

  • Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • EIT Required or PE (or ability to obtain soon) This is a MUST HAVE.
  • 3+ years of experience in civil engineering (land development and/or water/wastewater)
  • Experience with tools like Civil 3D, StormCAD, WaterCAD (or similar)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams
