Department Supervisor

Sherwood Bedding is one of the nation's leading mattress manufacturers, with five manufacturing facilities across the United States. More than 4 million Americans sleep on a Sherwood Bedding mattress. We are currently seeking a Department Supervisor to join our team.

The Department Supervisor is responsible for leading the daily operations of the Foam Encased department, ensuring production goals, quality standards, safety requirements, and employee performance are consistently met.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the daily operations of the Foam Encased department.

• Ensure production schedules are completed on time while maintaining quality and efficiency standards.

• Oversee the assembly of mattress components using pneumatic air tools, water-based glue systems, roll coat laminating equipment, and other production machinery.

• Ensure the correct materials and specifications are used throughout the manufacturing process.

• Train, coach, and develop team members on proper assembly techniques, quality expectations, and safe work practices.

• Inspect finished products and address quality concerns or production defects.

• Monitor workflow and make adjustments to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.

• Promote and enforce all company safety policies and procedures.

• Monitor employee attendance and hours worked and assist the Operations Manager with daily reporting.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

• Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned by the Plant Manager or Operations Manager.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment; mattress, upholstery, sewing, or furniture manufacturing experience is preferred.

• Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.

• Ability to motivate, coach, and develop employees.

• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while meeting production deadlines.

• Ability to stand for 8–12 hours per shift and perform frequent walking, bending, pushing, pulling, and lifting. Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs with a two-person lift.
