Job Summary:

The Blend Operator – A Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently preparing fluid blends of all types and sizes, including specialty products. This position ensures all blending processes are completed in accordance with company procedures and quality standards while maintaining accurate documentation and effective communication across departments. The operator plays a critical role in daily operations, equipment maintenance, and meeting production goals.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Identify and report workplace hazards to management prior to beginning any task.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.
  • Participate in pre-shift safety and shift change meetings, and complete all required monthly safety training.
  • Promptly report safety incidents and accidents; generate reports if the Shift Manager is unavailable.
  • Complete fluid blends accurately, including specialty and multi-size blends.
  • Plan and operate blend pumps in coordination with the Shift Lead or Supervisor.
  • Communicate needs and coordinate effectively with “B” Operators.
  • Monitor, maintain, record, and report tank temperatures for heated components.
  • Track and maintain accurate tank inventories; complete and submit transfer forms.
  • Document all material movement using proper forms (e.g., Blend Checklist, BRMRR).
  • Maintain a sufficient inventory of equipment and supplies needed for blend room operations.
  • Perform routine maintenance on blending equipment as required.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet departmental production goals.
  • Communicate professionally with other departmental staff and plant personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

 

Required Skills:

  • Strong awareness of safety protocols and hazard identification
  • Ability to perform blending operations using various processes and equipment
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation and inventory tracking ability
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to tasks
  • Moderate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to read and follow ISO procedures
  • Working knowledge of pumps, process piping, and related systems
  • Basic mechanical aptitude for equipment maintenance

 

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience in fluid blending or a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to apply advanced math skills (logic, algebraic, and geometric functions)
  • Prior experience working with pumps and process piping is highly desirable

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand, walk, and perform physical labor for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to work in varying temperature environments (including heat near tanks)
  • Use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as required
  • Ability to safely climb stairs, ladders, and work at heights if necessary
