Job DetailsLevel: ExperiencedJob Location: Shreveport, LA 71107PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES The Welder is responsible for performing welding and fabrication work in accordance with production schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements. This role focuses on hands-on welding, code compliance, and maintaining high-quality workmanship in accordance with ASME Section IX welding code requirements. Perform welding and fabrication operations, including layout, fit-up, and welding using various processes such as SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, and Sub-Arc. Produce welds that meet ASME Section IX code requirements, internal quality standards, and customer specifications. Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and work instructions to ensure accurate fabrication. Inspect completed welds and workpieces to verify conformance to specifications and quality requirements. Complete required welding documentation and maintain proper weld traceability as assigned. Follow established welding procedures, work instructions, and safety guidelines at all times. Assist in troubleshooting welding or fit-up issues and communicate concerns to the Weld Shop Supervisor. Properly use, maintain, and care for welding equipment, tools, and machinery. Report equipment issues or maintenance needs using the company’s maintenance management system. Maintain a clean and organized work area and comply with housekeeping and 6S standards. Comply with all PPE requirements and safe work practices while working in the welding environment. Support production flow by completing assigned work efficiently and meeting established timelines. Participate in training related to welding processes, safety, or quality as required. Perform other related duties as assigned by management. QualificationsKNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum 5 years of industrial welding or fabrication experience preferred. Proficient in reading blueprints, weld symbols, and using a tape measure. Must be able to pass an open-root stainless plate test with backing strip (1G position). Experience with MIG, TIG, stick, and sub-arc welding processes preferred. Knowledge of and ability to follow ASME Section IX welding codes and procedures required. Basic computer skills required (email, production or quality documentation systems). Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Manual dexterity required for operating welding equipment and machinery. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods. Forklift certification preferred. WORKING CONDITIONS Working conditions are typical for a manufacturing and welding environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials up to 50 pounds and exposure to heat, sparks, and noise. Operation of machinery and tools requires strict adherence to safety procedures.
