FLSA Status: Hourly Division/Department 4027 Reports to Shift Supervisor Last Revision Date: 10/23/08     PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Safely operate engine lathe, knee mill, and drill press. 2. Work from simple (1) or detailed (2) prints. 3. Learn basic APP tooling nomenclature. 4. Learn cost center codes and time entry procedures. 5. Perform basic fixturing for manual machining operations(2). 6. Produce accurate hand sketches 7. Supervised operation of some CNC machines used in the making of complex tooling. 8. Other duties as assigned. 9. Must be able to work with minimal supervision.   ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Provide on the job training to new employees as needed. 2. Follow all safety and health policies and procedures issued by the company.   KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS 1. Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent. 2. Ability to read tape measure accurately. 3. Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers. 4. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds required. 5. Ability to reference the “Machinist Handbook” and implement as needed (1) 6. (1) entry level, (2) 12 months experience.   WORKING CONDITIONS Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials up to 50 pounds. Machinery and tool operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, steel toed work boots, and gloves. PPE REQUIRED Safety glasses, ear protection, steel toed boots, and gloves. Use of grinder/cutting torch or welding equipment requires face shield or goggles.
