Transportation Engineer 4/Traffic Maintenance Engineer, PN 20060820
What You Will Do:
- You will serve as the Traffic Maintenance Engineer for District 7 with responsibilities to including the creation and management of maintenance work plans for pavement markings, raised pavement markers, signing, highway lighting, traffic signals and other electrical devices, as well as managing lower-level transportation engineer(s) and traffic signal technicians.
- You will serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for District 7 regarding traffic engineering related items including pavement markings, raised pavement markers, signing, highway lighting, traffic signals, and other electrical devices.
- The responsibilities as the SME include reviews and approves design and construction plans, research new materials and technologies to improve District 7 traffic operations, corresponds with consultants and other agencies as a District 7 representative in your area of expertise, and carries out public relations functions and investigates complaints related to traffic maintenance activities.
- You will serve as the Transportation Systems Management & Operations (TSMO) Coordinator for District 7 by coordinating with your counterparts in other ODOT Districts and Central Office, creating and tracking a TSMO work plan for District 7 in conjunction with direction from the ODOT Central Office TSMO Engineer, and reviews annual traffic congestion data and prepares traffic studies for use in preparing funding applications for future TSMO projects.

Licensed as registered professional engineer by Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 2 yrs. exp. as group or project leader or supervisor providing work direction & training to employees engaged in engineering projects or 2 yrs. exp. in managing engineering research projects (i.e., managing research projects applies only to staff specialist positions); if assigned to operate a state vehicle to travel to & inspect project sites, must possess valid driver’s license.Â
