Capitol Kids Dentistry and Orthodontics is an exciting new pediatric dental and orthodontic practice opening in Summer 2026 in Silver Spring, MD. Our mission is to provide high-quality, compassionate, and comprehensive care in a fun, child-friendly environment. We are building a modern practice focused on prevention, education, and positive patient experiences for children and their families.

 

Position Overview

We are seeking a Part-Time Pediatric Dentist to join our growing team. This role will begin at 1–2 days per week, with a strong opportunity to increase days as the practice expands. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a startup environment and help shape the culture and clinical excellence of the practice.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a pediatric dental setting
  • Comfort with behavior management techniques and sedation dentistry
  • Interest in growth with a startup practice environment
  • Bilingual (Spanish preferred, but not required)

Schedule

  • Part-time: 1–2 days per week initially
  • Opportunity to expand as patient demand grows

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Provide comprehensive pediatric dental care to infants, children, adolescents, and patients with special healthcare needs
  • Perform preventive and restorative procedures, including exams, cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, fillings, crowns, and extractions
  • Diagnose and manage dental conditions, including caries, trauma, and developmental issues
  • Educate patients and parents on oral hygiene, diet, and preventive care
  • Administer local anesthesia and, if trained/credentialed, nitrous oxide or other sedation modalities
  • Collaborate with orthodontists and other team members to coordinate patient care
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Ensure compliance with infection control, safety protocols, and HIPAA regulations
  • Contribute to a positive, team-oriented, and patient-centered office culture

Qualifications

You will be required to possess the following:

  • DDS or DMD from an accredited dental school
  • Completion of an accredited Pediatric Dentistry residency program (CODA-accredited)
  • Active and unrestricted Maryland Dental License (or eligibility to obtain prior to start date)
  • Current DEA registration
  • Current CPR/BLS certification (PALS preferred)
  • Nitrous oxide permit (if applicable under Maryland regulations)
  • Eligibility for credentialing with major insurance providers and Medicaid
  • Strong clinical skills with a focus on pediatric patient care
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with children and parents
