SUMMARY OF POSITION:

This role combines advanced firefighting expertise with advanced life support (ALS) medical care. The Firefighter Paramedic will respond to fire, rescue, and medical emergencies, providing critical services to protect life, property, and the community. Under the supervision of a company officer and indirect oversight of the EMS Coordinator, the Firefighter Paramedic will perform fire suppression, advanced medical care, and rescue operations while maintaining a commitment to safety, professionalism, and teamwork. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Firefighting and Rescue Operations:

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Respond to fire alarms, hazardous materials incidents, and technical rescue calls.

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Perform fire suppression, ventilation, search and rescue, and salvage operations.

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Operate firefighting equipment, including hoses, pumps, ladders, and extrication tools.

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Conduct pre-incident planning and fire prevention activities, including public education and inspections.

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Maintain firefighting equipment, apparatus, and facilities to ensure operational readiness.

Advanced Emergency Medical Services:

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Provide advanced life support (ALS) care, including patient assessment, cardiac monitoring, IV therapy, and medication administration.

All members covered by the Union have the right to join or not to join the union.聽

Lateral Requirements:

To qualify as a lateral hire, at the time of application, the applicant must possess and provide proof of the following.

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 A minimum of 4 years of continuous fire experience obtained in the previous 5 years.

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Experience must be obtained from a municipality, district, or other fire department that provides structural firefighting and EMS聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 services; from an ALS EMS transport service; or a combination of both.

路聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Paid on-call, part-time, or volunteer firefighting experience is not acceptable experience for the 4 years outlined above.

Laterals will be hired at grade 2 for $105,777
