QualificationsProgram: The NWCCOG Elevator Inspection Program (EIP) inspects, and issues permits for commercial and residential conveyances (elevators, lifts, and escalators) to ensure safe conveyances throughout the region. Summary: Founded in 1974, NWCCOG exists to identify and fill service gaps in the region as identified by the Membership through the NWCCOG Council. This has evolved into an array of activities that share a sense of mission and purpose, from direct services to older adults, loans to small businesses, home weatherization for income qualified families to regional coordination for local governments in areas such as broadband, economic development, mobility, water quality, elevator inspections and board facilitations.  NWCCOG strives to be an employer of choice with competitive benefits and wages. Reporting Location and Relationship Reports to the NWCCOG Elevator Program Director. Office is located at 249 Warren Avenue, Silverthorne, Colorado. NWCCOG employees work from dispersed locations across the region, including home offices and warehouse/office locations in Eagle County and Rifle. The Elevator Inspector will travel throughout 9 counties in Northwest Colorado.  This position allows for flexibility, and can work four 10-hour days upon Director’s approval.  Wages and Benefits This is a Non-Exempt (hourly) position and the wage range for this position is $92,997.00 - $139,495.00. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Under general supervision of the Program Director, elevator inspectors conduct physical inspections of elevators, escalators, moving walks, along with all related equipment under the program’s jurisdiction. Inspectors conduct audits of affidavits submitted by mechanics related to compliance of elevators and related equipment. Inspections may involve general schedule, follow‐up, complaint, accident, referral, and fatality investigations. Inspectors submit reports of new installation, alteration‐ inspections and audit inspections including detailed documentation of violations and recommendations for the Issuance of a Certificate of Operation. Inspectors report audit findings and recommendations to appropriate management based on the results of routine/non‐routine investigations/audits and at any time when issues need to be addressed by management. Then conducts follow‐up reviews of deficiencies noted during inspections and audits, and accurately completes and submits inspection findings and paperwork in a timely manner as determined by the Director. Position can be heavy in administrative work at times, therefore, must be familiar with basic computer applications such as Word, Excel, Adobe, and other Microsoft applications. Must be able to follow schedules as assigned and utilize email and calendar invitations for assignment(s). The NWCCOG is willing to provide training to any candidate selected for this position. Must be flexible with weekly schedules and have excellent communication skills. Must attend all necessary continuing education classes as assigned by the Program Director. Must be a positive team player by promoting the mission of NWCCOG. Inspectors are occasionally assigned other duties. Minimum Qualifications: A high school diploma and ability to perform inspections/audits in dirty or uncomfortable surroundings. Considerable walking and climbing required. Extensive travel with some overnight stays required. Must have a valid driver’s license and pass a background check. Employee will be required to drive a company vehicle and possess a valid driver's license. Work requires constant contact with the public. Must be able to lift, carry elevator inspection tools and/or code books weighing between 10‐20 lbs. Must be able to climb/descend ladders, access confined spaces such as elevators pits, climb/descend stairs, squat, kneel, stand, sit, bend, crawl and walk for extended hours. Certification as a Qualified Elevator Inspector is required within one-year of employment but not required as part of the selection process for this position.
