As a Surg Tech First Assist, under limited supervision, provides care to patients of all ages experiencing surgical intervention. Serves as an assistant to the surgeon in performing a safe operation with optimal outcomes for the patient. Practices directly under the supervision and direction of the surgeon, registered nurse, or physician assistant during the intra-operative phase of patient care. Demonstrates involvement in professional activities, through reading professional journals, participation in educational programs and meetings, and collegial interchange. Adheres to the principles of Service Excellence Guiding Behaviors and the philosophy and mission of MercyOne in all aspects of job performance

Position Title: Surgical Tech- First Assist

Department: OR/Recovery

Schedule:  

• Day Shift
• Full Time 1.0 FTE (40 hours a week)

General Requirements:  

• Requires completion of an accredited course in OR technology.
• Must have certification as a Surgical Technologist First Assistant through an accredited authority.
• Requires a minimum of two years’ experience in operating room clinical practice with demonstrated proficiency in peri-operative practice as a scrub and first assistant.  
• Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification is required unless a doctor’s release is provided, in which case yearly proficiency must be demonstrated through oral a written testing.
• Maintains a high level of professionalism, which positively promotes the image of MercyOne.
• Demonstrates clinical competence and serves as a role model in clinical practice

Pay Range: $31.18 - $46.78 per hour
Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
