Team Leader – Unrack/Packing

Department: Un-rack / Packing
Reports To: Shift Supervisors

Shift Days/Hours Monday-Friday 3:00 pm- 11:00 pm Must be willing and able to work Mandatory OT on off days as necessary.
Staring Pay: $19.80

 

Position Overview

The Unrack/Pack Team Leader is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and consistent operation of the unrack and packing area. This role provides leadership, direction, and coordination of daily activities while supporting productivity, quality, and workflow between team members, crane operators, and material handlers.

The Team Leader plays a key role in fostering a positive, team-oriented environment by modeling professionalism, enforcing company policies, coaching team members, and ensuring clear communication across all shifts.

 

What You Will Do

  • Ensure smooth and efficient operation of the unrack/pack line and drying station
  • Lead, support, and work effectively with team members
  • Maintain strong attendance and punctuality, including arriving 15 minutes prior to shift
  • Monitor and maintain safety, housekeeping, quality, and productivity standards
  • Communicate effectively with Supervisors, Team Leaders, and Team Members to maximize efficiency
  • Promote a team-oriented approach to achieve departmental goals
  • Coordinate workflow between crane operators, unracking teams, and material handlers
  • Assign and delegate tasks based on staffing and workload
  • Maintain cross-shift communication to ensure smooth transitions
  • Complete daily Team Leader checklist
  • Collect and document production and operational data for reporting and analysis
  • Assess team member performance, training needs, and development opportunities
  • Enforce company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines consistently
  • Identify quality or process issues, take corrective action, and prevent recurrence
  • Provide coaching, instruction, and feedback to improve team performance
  • Support additional duties and projects as assigned by supervision

 

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Medium to heavy physical demand
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling materials
  • Regular standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs with assistance
  • Continuous lifting in the 1–20 lb range
  • Must maintain strong awareness of workplace conditions and potential hazards
  • Fast-paced work environment with production and quality expectations

 

What You Need

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous manufacturing or production experience preferred
  • Prior leadership or team lead experience strongly preferred

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead, coach, and motivate team members
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
  • Basic computer and data entry skills
  • Ability to operate department tools and equipment
  • Understanding of unrack/pack processes and production flow
  • Ability to follow and enforce safety and quality procedures
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to adapt and perform in a fast-paced, high-demand environment
  • Persistence and resilience when facing challenges
