Quality Inspector - 1st ShiftÂ
Job DescriptionÂ
You will be responsible for performing dimensional and visual inspections and the associated quality reports on castings, machined metal and plastic parts for workmanship and conformance to design documentation in 2d or 3D format. Requirements are to be interpreted from design / process drawings, procedures and specifications. Data analyzed from these inspection operations are documented in quality and nonconformance reports. Responsible for ensuring product meets customer requirements.Â
RESPONSIBILITIES:Â
• Maintain quality departmental documentation, in written and computer formats, supporting inspection, certification reviews andÂ
nonconformance reporting.Â
• Using CMM and/or hand devices such as verniers, calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, height gauges, fixtures, etc. performs firstÂ
article and first piece inspection as appropriate of castings, machined metal and of complex geometries using customer suppliedÂ
prints and some CAD interpretation.Â
• Performs close tolerance dimensional checks using high complexity prints and a thorough knowledge of GD&TÂ
• Independently sets-up and operates CMM for complex parts and programs CMMs for repeated inspection of parts as requiredÂ
• Completes 100% inspection reports on 1st piece machined partsÂ
• Exercises independent judgment to determine methods for inspection technique and maintains part inspection programs to assureÂ
they are to current print requirementsÂ
• Assists in engineering, transfers mark-up and creates inspection strategies when requiredÂ
• Meets quality and quantity standards for the positionÂ
• Documents actions by completing production routers and Inspection Methods SheetsÂ

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:Â
High school diploma or equivalent with experience OR associate's degreeÂ
Working knowledge of GD&T, AS9102 FAIRs, and all facets of inspection measuring equipmentÂ
Previous experience as Quality Inspector or DQR in an Aerospace manufacturing environment a plusÂ
Strong communication skills, ability to work on a team, and attention to detailÂ
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products, related business applications and office equipmentÂ

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Â
Associate's degree or equivalent knowledge to obtain expertise in departmental inspection equipment, and processes, and other Quality objectivesÂ
5-10 years' Aerospace inspection in a machine shop environmentÂ
Familiarity with Process ImprovementÂ
