The Undercarriage Technician performs repairs, maintenance, and reconditioning of undercarriage tracks and related components sold and serviced by Blanchard Machinery Company ensuring company and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contributes to a positive work environment and promotes the vision, mission and values of BMC.
  • Completes all job responsibilities in a safe manner, promotes and champions a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Performs repairs, reconditioning, and maintenance of all undercarriage components including track chains, pads, rollers, idlers, and frames.
  • Operates and sets up presses for turning pins and bushings; removes and installs track pads and related components.
  • Conducts maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical, hydraulic, and diesel-powered systems related to undercarriage operation.
  • Uses proper diagnostic tools and equipment (i.e., Cat ET, CAT-SIS) to identify and resolve issues.
  • Identifies all models and types of undercarriage systems; accesses and utilizes technical resources, including the Undercarriage Reconditioning Guide.
  • Installs and/or replaces new or reconditioned repair parts and tests repaired equipment for proper operation per manufacturer specifications.
  • Completes required documentation including service reports, parts requisitions, timecards, and returns with accuracy and detail.
  • Provides exceptional customer service and represents Blanchard Machinery in a professional manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3+ years of experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing diesel or heavy equipment preferred.
  • Knowledge of undercarriage systems, diagnostic techniques, and proper repair procedures required.
  • Computer skills preferred (SIS, CAT ET).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be a team player who is enthusiastic, self-motivated, and capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate professionalism, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality and safety.

 

Working Conditions

  • The physical environment requires the employee to work primarily inside throughout the day, however this position may also require working in non-climate-controlled environments as well as outdoors.
  • Required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to injury and/or hazardous materials.
  • Position requires employees to be physically present at designated worksite locations.
  • Requires standing, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, lifting.
  • Must be able to lift varied weight.
  • Seeing, reading, and writing to complete job responsibilities.
  • Use of computers and other forms of technology to complete job responsibilities.
