EBAD seeks an engineer for the position Development Engineer, reporting to the Product Development Engineering Lead.

Responsibilities:

The development engineer (DE) is the technical lead on internal and external projects and is responsible for all technical and schedule aspects of the project/product from concept through development, qualification and production.  Primary duties include:

  • Development and maintenance of the technical data package, product testing requirements and methods. 
  • Create 3D conceptual models to meet customer design requirements
  • Perform design trade studies and hand calculations
  • Perform tolerance studies to ensure design fidelity
  • Interact with customers on design, interface and functional details
  • Interact with suppliers to rapid prototype parts for risk reduction testing
  • Requirements generation, allocation, and flow down
  • Technical compliance and risk assessment/management
  • Coordination of project team technical tasks
  • Cost estimating and management for both proposal and program activity
  • Additional duties include coordination with other departments to ensure the production viability of new designs, creation of the required documentation, and internal and customer approval for this documentation.

Requirements:

The successful candidate must have a BS/MS in an engineering discipline and experience in project, design or related engineering experience.  Mechanical and/or Aerospace are the preferred engineering disciplines. 

Required experience includes:

  • Proven leadership of technical teams
  • Ability to apply customer requirements and government/military specifications to design
  • Demonstrated experience generating 3D models & 2D drawings, SolidWorks preferred
  • Capable of applying GD&T, and understanding how it effects part cost
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills for interaction with various levels of management and customers
  • Demonstrated competency in problem solving and root cause analysis
  • Must have or be able to obtain a U.S Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of explosive materials and energetic devices
  • Experience with product development, rapid prototyping, and manufacturing processes
  • Experience with all Microsoft Office tools including MS Project
  • ANSYS and Solid Works experience

DE I – 0-2 years exp – S10 -performing tasks to learn the process

DE II – 2-4 years exp – S11 -working the process with support

DE III – 4-6 years exp – S12 -working the process independently

Senior DE – 6+ years exp – S13 -teaching the process
