Summary:
This position will work as part of a team of attorneys and contract professionals responsible for the drafting, negotiating, and processing of contracts for Grifols’ North American business units, particularly R&D. This position presents the opportunity for a successful candidate to receive specialized training and to develop skills that open possibilities for a long-term career path within Grifols. Â
While experience in the pharmaceutical industry will always be favorably considered, candidates need not have direct experience, but must present the skills and aptitude to undertake the preparation and negotiation of complex agreements. Â

Primary Responsibilities for Role:
- Draft, review and negotiate contracts, including the areas of clinical research, general procurement such as supply agreements, real estate related agreements such as leases, as well as other commercial and vendor agreements.
- Manage claims and litigation involving personal injury, employment matters, and other business disputes.
- Provide legal support in a wide variety of areas including industrial, commercial, and manufacturing.
- Some knowledge of the legal and regulatory environment, as it relates to healthcare compliance in the pharmaceutical industry including anti-kickback statutes, government fraud and abuse, off-label promotion, anticorruption laws would be a plus but not required.

- Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills, with an excellent ability to issue spot and integrate legal advice with business goals.Â
- Ability to work well in a cross-functional team environment, as well as in a small team environment and become a productive and positive member of the legal team.Â
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate conciselyÂ

Education:
J.D. from a well-respected academic institution required. Admission to a state bar is required.Â

Experience:
Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in the biotech/pharmaceuticals industry and/or equivalent law firm experience.Â

Equivalency:
Depending on the area of assignment, directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the stated requirements.  Example:  If a job level requires a Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of experience, an equivalency could include 8 years of experience, an Associate’s degree with 6 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 2 years of experience.Â

Occupational Demands:
Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. Frequently sits for 6-8 hours per day. Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Occasionally walks and stands. Occasionally bends and twists neck. Â Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects with a maximum lift of 25lbs.Â

The estimated pay scale for Corporate Counsel role based in Los Angeles, California, is $160,000.00-$185,000.00. Additionally, the position is eligible to participate in up to 30% of the company bonus pool. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on education, experience, skillset, knowledge, where the role is performed, internal equity and market data.
