Salary Range: Starting at $75,000, commensurate with experience

Job Description

Position Summary

The principal tasks of the Human Resources Generalist are to manage the daily operations within the Human Resources (HR) Department, administer employee onboarding and offboarding, maintain personnel records, serve as a point of contact for employee relations matters, and  review, implement, and communicate policies and procedures.

This position may include a combination of working from our home office and travel to school sites as needed.

 

Essential Functions

Human Resources

  • Serves as the initial point of contact for assigned HR functions.
  • Manages onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Maintains physical and digital personnel files and audit files as needed. 
  • Update Human Resources systems (e.g., Human Resources Information System, Vector, Bswift, etc.) to ensure the system is up-to-date.
  • Resolves HR support tickets.
  • Processes requests for Verifications of Employment for current and former employees.
  • Supports the maintenance of metrics, Key Performance Indicators, and/or HR dashboard(s).
  • Supports and contributes to the development and maintenance of the department manual, guides, and resources.
  • Supports updates of the ICEF Intranet and SysDocRepo platforms for the HR department.
  • Manages the HR Google Drive with the support of HR Manager.

Compliance and Safety

  • Supports reasonable accommodations and manages Leaves of Absence requests across the organization as applicable.
  • Supports employee relations as it pertains to workers’ compensation claims and accommodations as needed.
  • Supports the preparation and/or auditing of HR deliverables for reviews and audits such as Annual Performance-Based Oversight, Compliance Monitoring Checklists, Federal Program Monitoring, Civil Rights Review, Annual Audit and similar reviews and audits.
  • Assists with California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System (CALPADS) and authorizer audit requests.
  • Ensures compliance with employment law and supports ongoing compliance including the update of the employee handbook, training staff, and supervisors.
  • Supports the Implementation of systems-level protocols to ensure that all HR operations provide an exceptional experience for staff.
  • Ensure consistent, fair, and equitable application of policies and procedures to all staff, regardless of position or status.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Assists employees with benefits enrollment, providing an explanation of benefit eligibility, waiting periods, and key program features.
  • Supports the annual open enrollment processes across the organization. 
  • Supports the collection of payroll documentation to ensure the back office provider processes payroll and employees are paid on time according to various policies. 
  • Ensures compliance with ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, and other applicable laws.

Minimum Qualifications

  • An earned Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university in human resources, education, public administration or policy, or a related field
  • Successful leadership in HR, knowledge of state and federal labor laws and employment provisions
  • Ability to work well in emotionally charged, difficult situations involving confidential or sensitive matters
  • Demonstrated excellence in writing, editing, and verbal communication
  • Strong leadership, team management, and project execution skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally 
  • Proficient use of Google-based applications
  • Tuberculosis (TB) clearance
  • Background check clearance
  • Commitment to educational equity and ICEF’s mission

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of professional experience in a public charter school, charter management organization or public school district
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems, recruitment platforms, and HR compliance tracking systems
  • Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification OR SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) certification is preferred but not required
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus
