As a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) on our Cardiology team, you play an essential role in helping patients receive timely, compassionate, and high-quality heart care. From preparing patients for visits and procedures to obtaining vital signs, performing EKGs, supporting providers, and helping patients understand their care, your clinical skills and attention to detail help keep the care team moving and ensure every patient feels supported throughout their cardiac journey.

Responsibilities
- Assist physicians during patient exams and procedures
- Room patients, record patient histories, vital signs, and document in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Administer medications, immunizations, and treatments per scope of licensure
- Educate patients on health, medications, and follow-up care
- Coordinate referrals and patient care follow-ups
- Ensure a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment
Qualifications
- Valid and current certification in the state of Iowa for Medical Assisting
- Graduate of an accredited program for Medical Assistants (Certificate, diploma, or Associate’s Degree) required.
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant through one of the following required:
- National Healthcare Association
- American Association of Medical Assistants
- National Center for Competency Testing
- National Certified Medical Assistant
- National Association of Health Professionals
- American Registry of Medical Assistants
- American Allied Health
- American Medical Technologists
- Prior experience in a clinical or outpatient setting preferred
- Familiarity with EPIC a plus!
- For positions within UnityPoint Clinic, team members may be required to work at or to float to other locations to support optimized staffing
