The Senior Data Engineer serves as a technical lead for all data platform development and integrity within the organization. In addition to owning the architecture and reliability of data infrastructure, this role enforces data standards, and partners directly with Information Technology leadership on enterprise data initiatives. The Senior Data Engineer drives innovation, implements unattended error detection and remediation frameworks, and ensures alignment between engineering solutions and business goals.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serves as a lead architect and SME for all Data Warehouse systems.
- Guides design principles for ingestion, normalization, and dashboard delivery.
- Leads root cause analysis and eliminates defects in critical reporting pipelines.
- Serves as a team lead for the junior engineering staff.
- Partners with Information Technology leadership to plan and implement scalable data infrastructure for Payments Division.
- Spearheads the creation of unattended data validation and remediation processes.
- Engages with senior executives to ensure solution alignment with business objectives.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- 6-8 years of experience in a data engineering capacity, required; preferably in financial services.
- Deep experience with SQL Server, VMware/MS Server environments, and hosted solutions, required.
- Demonstrated ability to create data dictionaries and orchestrate full development pipelines, required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Expert-level SQL and SSIS knowledge, including complex data architecture.
- Extensive experience with hosted environments (e.g., VMware, MSSQL, Windows Server).
- Strategic vision for scalable data infrastructure and future growth.
- Ability to lead code reviews, architect pipelines, and set technical direction.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills across technical and executive audiences.
- Deep understanding of risk, audit, and compliance concerns in a regulated industry.
- Proficiency in identifying systemic data issues and building resilient solutions.
