The University of Sioux Falls invites applications for a full-time, benefits-eligible Assistant Men's and Women's Cross-Country Coach/Assistant Track and Field Coach (12 months). Applications will be reviewed immediately. USF is a member of the NCAA Division II and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. 


Description and Major Functions

The Assistant Men's and Women's Cross-Country Coach/Assistant Track and Field Coach is a full-time position and reports to the Head Coach Track & Field/Cross Country Coach and Director of Athletics. The successful applicant will assist with all aspects of running a DII collegiate track and field program. 


This position is responsible for all aspects of the cross-country program, including practice and competition planning, recruiting, student-athlete development, roster management, assist with budget oversight, scheduling, travel coordination, and equipment management. As a member of the track and field coaching staff, the Assistant Coach is responsible for coaching assigned event groups, assisting with meet operations, recruiting prospective student-athletes, and contributing to the overall success of the track and field program. 


This position fosters an environment that promotes competitive excellence, academic achievement, leadership, sportsmanship, and the holistic development of student-athletes. The position ensures compliance with all institutional, conference, and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules and regulations while supporting the mission, vision, and strategic goals of the university and athletics department.


Qualifications

The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong professional work ethic and a commitment to students’ academic success, holding themselves and the student-athletes to the highest standards; have significant knowledge of and demonstrate leadership skills, organizational and communication skills, recruiting and coaching skills, and adequate understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel, and knowledge of and adherence to compliance of all NCAA applicable procedures, rules, and regulations. 


The individual must also demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a Christian higher education institution and abide by all NCAA DII, Northern Sun Conference, and University policies. 


A bachelor’s degree is required, both participation and coaching experience preferred, a strong professional work ethic, and a commitment to students’ academic success. Travel is necessary; a valid driver’s license is required; and the ability to successfully pass a background check and lift up to 40 lbs. is required.
